I Married My Cousin?!
7 Sep It's legal in all 50 states to marry a cousin who's your second cousin or further. But according to a That being said, your third or fourth cousins are juuust close enough that dating one will be at least a somewhat rebellious gesture against your parents -- it's "best of both worlds" in that way too. So it's settled. 10 Apr How about marriage between second cousins? Theoretically, that's one-fourth as risky. No state bans such marriages. Should we change that? If your purpose is to prevent people with dangerous genes from marrying each other, why use a crude standard such as kinship? Why not test everybody for bad. OK. LadyC gave you some good advice. Here's my take. You've said 3 times that you know this relationship will not work out. So why waste your time? If you want someone to date causally there are plenty of young men that you could have that with. It seems to me that the drama of a cousin relationship is.

Mod posts Serious posts Megathread Breaking news Unfilter. Is it or is it NOT ok to date your second cousin?! Ok so some context. Years ago in high school a friend of mine started dating this girl who ya was pretty cool and attractive and so forth. Turns out they were second cousins, and continued to date for a while even after discovering this. So I don't think there's any blood relation there, so its by title only.
Crushing/Dating Second Cousins? - GirlsAskGuys
You are blood related to your second cousins but Is Dating Your Second Cousin Wrong common ancestor is a great-grandparent, so it's not a high degree of genetic similarity. I think it's fine biologically speaking. It really depends on social aspects. If you had a close-knit family and you were going to keep seeing your second cousin at family events for years and years then I would be hesitant to date because if it didn't work out then that could be awkward. Also, would your family accept it or would they work click you, etc.
But as far as the risk of birth defects or anything like that, low risk. For first cousins the risk is the same as a woman who has a child after age 40, so second cousins must be even lower than that. Strictly speaking, societies in which first cousins marrying and producing offspring were not uncommon in the past. Heck, from what I've read, the chances of genetic deformity in offspring of such a union are pretty slim, almost to the level of non-blood-related.
Mind you, that chance multiplies with each successive cousin-marriage, so take that into consideration, but My point is that second cousins dating, while incredibly, stupendously weird, shouldn't really be an issue biologically. Especially since they're obviously not close enough relationally to even know they were cousins at first. If they had grown up together and whatnot, it'd cause all kinds of havoc throughout the family, but this doesn't sound that bad.
Second cousins share a great-grandparent. There's blood there, and relatively rimshot close blood.

As long as they are happy together, it shouldn't matter. I mean why do you even care OP, it doesn't affect you. You should but out of other peoples relationships. See this is what I always said to him and when he's say "well why not" then I didn't really have an answer accept to scrunch my face and look like I'd like went down on a lemon.
Why read article it wrong for cousins to date but not homosexuals? If two people want to be romantically involved, regardless of their relation, who am I to say they can't? So long as they don't have babies because then their relationship actually harms someone else-- the baby I see nothing wrong with it.
People seem to ridicule people for dating someone related. I suppose it's not quite as trendy as the pro-gay stance everyone has been taking lately, so that's why. It's probably more of a cultural thing than anything, but it doesn't make sense to date someone so closely related when there are tons of fish in the sea.
Oh hell I dunno how to expand that out.

He just showed up at a party one night with this girl then couple days later made the mistake of telling me and some others they were second cousins. Never thought to give him the "Oh but Brah there are so many non related fish in the sea.
